A case with a window is a packaging decision, not a bag decision: the customer sees the tiles before they open anything. This one is PU leather with a clear PVC panel on the face, a gold-tone zip and a top handle — built to the size of the set inside it.

The window does the selling

On a shelf, the tile is the product. A window shows the tile colour, the face design and the finish from a metre away, which is the distance most retail decisions are made at.

It also answers the question a closed box cannot: what does the set actually look like? For a gift buyer who has never handled mahjong, that is worth more than any copy on the back of the box.

The panel is clear PVC, sewn into the shell rather than taped on — it stays flat across the window instead of sagging into the case.

Made to your tile size

There is no standard size for this one, because there is no standard set. We build the case to your tile footprint and tile count.

Send:

• the tile face size (for example 36.5 × 25.4 mm) and the tile depth;
• the number of tiles in the set, and whether racks and pushers travel inside;
• the packed dimensions if the set goes in with a mat or a bag.

We then set the window to the tile face so the row of tiles reads cleanly through it, rather than showing a strip of lining above and below.

PU leather, and why it suits this case

PU leather holds a shape. That matters for a window: a soft shell would let the panel wrinkle and the tile row would look crooked behind it. The PU body keeps the front flat, wipes clean, and takes a deep colour without the mottling you get from cheaper coated fabric.

Zip and handle are metal, not plastic, because a handle is what fails first on a carry case.

Deep tones sell for gift sets; pastels and brights sell to boutiques that want the case to match a brand colour.

We do not publish the swatch book here — ask and we will send the images for the tones you are considering, plus the closest match to a Pantone reference. For a coloured shell with a clear window, a physical swatch matters more than usual: the window changes how the surrounding colour reads.

Logo: foil or print

• Foil stamping — gold (or another metallic) pressed into the PU under heat. It reads as a jeweller’s mark rather than a sticker, and it is the finish buyers expect on a case that is sold as premium packaging. Best for a wordmark or a compact logo in one colour.
• Printing — flat colour; needed when the logo has several colours or fine detail that foil cannot hold.

Both go on the shell, not on the window, so the tile stays visible either way.

How pricing works

Every size is a separate pattern and cutter, so the 300-piece minimum is per size, not per order. Within that, price moves with size, window size, colour and logo method — foil stamping needs a die, printing does not.

If you are launching in one size, order 300 of that size rather than splitting the run across three.

Getting a quote

Minimum is 300 pcs, and that is set by the tooling: every size is its own pattern and its own cutter, so the run has to justify it. One size at 300 pcs is a better order than three sizes at 100.

Bulk lead time is about a month; a sample takes about two weeks.
